Felipe is a 25-year old right-hander with a big arm that has amassed a lot of strikeouts and a lot of walks during his pro career. He has spent the entire season with the Padres’ Triple A team where he is averaging 14.23 strikeouts per nine, but has a 6.20 ERA and a 4.51 FIP to go along with 18 walks in 24 2/3 innings.
Jackson was placed on the 15-day injured list back on May 19 with a flexor tendon strain. The move is likely just procedural as it was probably going to be at least 60 days before Jackson is ready to return to action anyway.
