Does anyone think there is a chance the theft of the A’s could trigger action? To removal of the anti-trust exemption, or bust the monopoly up, creating 2 or 3 leagues, or limiting MLB’s authority to reserve markets for individual owners, etc.
In my lifetime MLB has alway operated like organized crime. It has to stop sometime. This is the American past-time not a product to be owned by 30 rich guys without regard to the communities who financed the stadiums, or the fans who filled their pockets.
I remember back when my team (the Expos) were in the process of being suffocated by that Bud Selig and his hitmen.
The American teams that Selig threatened had state politicians stand up for them.
Any California politicians stepping up to lead the charge?
