Top Prospects after Trade Deadline and Draft Signings

I think this is a good time to review our Prospect Rankings with the new infusion of talent from the Draft and the Montas trade. I believe that these 2 events could insert 6-7 prospects to our Top 30 list. My personal take:

Tier 1: Top 2 - Stars behind the plate (for now)

I think that Langeliers and Soderstrom are our undisputed top 2 prospects, both evaluated as 55 grade prospects and enjoying a good year in the top levels. Both could be bumped to 60 grade prospects depending on who you ask. Langeliers is more a star behind the plate with good power and decent bat. Soderstrom is transitioning to 1B, but that's more due to his bat being way ahead of his glove.

1. Tyler Soderstrom - 1B/C - 55 grade - Double A

2. Shea Langeliers - C - 55 grade - Triple A

Tier 2: Top prospects a notch down

Here I have the other 2 top 100 prospects (Waldichuck and Gelof) along with other 3 I consider there are not too far behind in Hoglund, Muncy and Susac. Waldichuk and Hoglund are currently projecting as solid mid rotation to borderline TOR starters, Gelof has shown very good things with his bat and glove in Double A, despite limited time due to injury and Susac is our top draft pick that fall to us despite being a top prospect in the draft and Muncy is showing serious power in A level. I consider them solid 55/borderline 55 grade prospects.

3. Zack Gelof - INF - 55 - Double A

4. Ken Waldichuk - LHP - 55 - Triple A

5. Daniel Susac - C - 55 - AZL

6. Gunnar Hoglund - RHP - 50 - Low A

7. Max Muncy - SS - 50 - High A

Tier 3: Something missing but loud tools

Here I complete the top 10 with 3 prospects that I consider 50 grade, but with some red flags that are holding them down. Diaz, Medina and Ginn, all at double A, but with some concerns that keep them separate from the above group. Solid 50 grade prospects (I think Diaz should get the bump after his performance this season) but Medina's control, Diaz's lack of walks and Ginn's health are flags that need to be worked out.

8. Jordan Diaz - 1B - 50 - Double A

9. Luis Medina - RHP - 50 - Double A

10. J.T. Ginn - RHP - 50 - Double A

Tier 4: Some regressions, some risers, some new faces

Here I put 9 prospects that are borderline 50/ solid 45 grade prospects: Bolte, Elliot (from the draft), Cusick, Buelvas, Pineda (regressions) and Clarke, Peluse, Criswell, Harris and Angeles are a group of solid prospects that has some holes or are completely new to the system that could make it or not to the show.

11. Henry Bolte - OF - 50 - AZL

12. Denzel Clarke - OF - 50 - High A

13. Ryan Cusick - RHP - 50 - Double A

14. Euribiel Angeles - SS - 50 - High A

15. Clark Elliot - OF - 50 - Rookie

16. Jeff Criswell - RHP - 45 - Double A

17. Brett Harris - 3B - 45 - Double A

18. Colin Peluse - RHP - 45 - Double A

19. Bryan Buelvas - OF - 45 - High A

20. Pedro Pineda - OF - 45 - Rookie

Tier 5: Intriguing, but need work

Here I rounded up our top 30 with 10 prospects that are intriguing, but tools or performance are placing serious flags on them. Estes, Miller, Sears, Puason, Davidson, Harris, Bowman, Guldberg, Acton and Butler.

21. Lawrence Butler - OF - 45 - High A

22. Hogan Harris - LHP - 45 - Double A

23. Mason Miller - RHP - 45 - IL

24. J. P. Sears - LHP - 45 - Triple A

25. Logan Davidson - SS - 45 - Double A

26. Joey Estes - RHP - 40 - High A

27. Michael Guldberg - 40 - Double A

28. Garret Acton - 40 - Triple A

29. Cooper Bowman - 2B - 40 - High A

30. Robert Puason - SS - 40 - AZL

I think the overhaul has being positive, and we have now a mid pack to top 10 farm, and we should solidify this with a few offseason trades (Murphy and Laureano) along with a high draft pick (probably top 3) next season.
