The Oakland A’s and Cleveland Indians are set to play tonight at Progressive Field, but the first pitch has been delayed due to rain* for an hour.

* For readers in the Bay Area, rain is when water falls from the sky, just indiscriminately all over everything

The contest was originally scheduled to begin at 4:10 p.m. PT, but a couple hours beforehand the tarp** was rolled onto the field.

** For readers in the Bay Area, other stadiums actually use their tarps instead of just positioning them in foul territory for their third basemen to make acrobatic catches on top of

A’s manager Bob Melvin was not surprised that it was raining in Cleveland, which trails only Rochester, Buffalo, and Portland (you know which one) as the major cities where it rains most often in America according to the possibly reliable first search result on Google.

A little after 3 p.m., the delay became official.

Shortly thereafter, the rain stopped. Progress at Progressive Field!

The A’s found ways to utilize the extra time and stay warm.

Good news! First pitch is now scheduled for 5 p.m. PT. Unless it starts snowing or something, I dunno, get it together Cleveland.

Gotta be honest though, right now I’m kinda locked in to how this game of Connect 4 ends.
