The Oakland A’s and San Diego Padres are playing a two-game series in the span of around 21 hours. It began last night, with the Padres winning 7-4, and it concludes Wednesday afternoon.

The A’s have lost four games in a row, and the last time they won was when they had Sean Manaea on the mound. He tossed seven innings and struck out 13 Mariners on Thursday, and he’ll look to play the role of stopper amid this latest team skid. Oakland’s lead for the Second Wild Card is currently just one game over the Mariners.

While this is a big game for both contending clubs, the news of the day already happened for Oakland. The A’s traded for outfielder Starling Marte from the Miami Marlins this morning, and you can click here for all the details. Marte isn’t in the lineup today, but could make a big impact on the team’s offense when he arrives.
