Game Thread #92: A’s at Rangers

All-Star on the mound!

The All-Star break is almost here! The Oakland A’s have one more game Sunday, and then a few days off for the midseason intermission. It couldn’t come at a better time this year, as the green and gold are going through a slump the past few weeks.

On the bright side, the A’s did earn a victory yesterday in 11 innings over the Texas Rangers. If they can build on that with another triumph today then they would secure their first series win over the last-place Rangers, after previously splitting a four-gamer and losing a three-gamer against the pesky opponent.

On the mound for Oakland is their newest All-Star, Chris Bassitt. The right-hander had his first bad start since 2019 last time out against Houston, but his two starts before that were against the Rangers and he tossed seven innings each time with one total run scored. He won’t have to face Joey Gallo, who’s getting the day off.
