Series finale!

The Oakland A’s dropped two of their first three games in Arlington against the last-place Texas Rangers, but they’ve got one more chance on Thursday to salvage a split.

They’ll do so behind ace Chris Bassitt, who usually gives up exactly two runs when he pitches while averaging over six innings per start. His last time out he went to Yankee Stadium and kept New York quiet for six frames, and before that he beat the D’Backs and Royals.

The A’s lineup will face Kolby Allard, which is something that went well for them last summer. The lefty started against Oakland twice and lost both times — once he lasted into the 6th inning and allowed just two runs but also issued four walks, and a few weeks later he was knocked out in the 1st inning with six runs on his record. Can they do it again this afternoon and leave town on a winning note?
