Two starting pitchers, 21 letters

The Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers split the first two meetings of their four-game series in Arlington, and now they’ll begin Round 3. The two clubs will send out a pair of starting pitchers featuring a combined 21 letters in their names.

For the visiting A’s, it’s James Kaprielian, who is off to a brilliant beginning to his career. In his last appearance he came one out away from a quality start against the Yankees in a winning effort, and his 2.84 ERA for the season is the best in Oakland’s rotation. The same goes for his 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

For the home Rangers, it’s Mike Foltynewicz. The right-hander was let go by the Braves over the winter and got a fresh chance in Texas, but has allowed a league-leading 17 homers in 74 innings over 14 starts, so the A’s powerful lineup has an opportunity for a fun evening.
