The Oakland A’s are the hottest team in the majors, and they’re making their annual visit to the Big Apple to face the New York Yankees. The Yankees are not hot, having lost seven of their last 12 games.
Rookie pitcher James Kaprielian draws the start at Yankee Stadium, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the right-hander. After all, his first career start back in May came at Fenway Park and he tossed five solid innings in a victory over the then-division-leading Red Sox. He’s now started six times and been good in five of them.
Oakland’s lineup is led by Matt Olson, who has taken a huge step forward at the plate this year. He was already a dinger monster, but now he’s striking out less and making his thunderous contact more often. Should be fun to watch him bat in front of the notoriously short porch in RF at this park.
