Going for a sweep!

The Oakland A’s took the first two games of the series, and now they have a chance to sweep the Los Angeles Angels at the Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon. The green and gold already leads the season series 6-3, and today’s contest will put them past the halfway point of their annual 19-game allotment together.

The A’s lead things off with Cole Irvin toeing the rubber. The southpaw completed six innings in each of his last three starts, and in his most recent appearance he carried a shutout into the 7th before finally allowing a solo homer to the Kansas City Royals. His season ERA is a solid 3.70 (106 ERA+), almost an exact match for his 3.71 FIP.

Oakland’s lineup is locked in, scoring over six runs per game in June. As if they weren’t already hot enough, today get back Ramon Laureano from the injured list, after recovering from a strained hip. He’s batting second and playing CF.
