Nice evening for a game!

The Oakland A’s won the opener of their series against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night at the Coliseum, and now they’ll look to make it two in a row against the AL West division rival.

Taking the hill for the green and gold is Frankie Montas. The right-hander pitched into the 7th inning his last time out against the Royals, but was tagged with a loss in a quality effort. He’s faced the Halos once this year, and took the loss despite giving up no earned runs, thanks to four unearned runs crossing the plate on his watch. Overall the A’s have won more often than they’ve lost when he’s pitched, and his 3.92 FIP is 18 points better than MLB average.

Meanwhile, Oakland’s hitters will face lefty Andrew Heaney, for the first time this season. He allowed just one run in each of his last two outings against the Giants and Royals. and his 4.37 ERA is identical to that of Montas.

Hopefully, the Halos will be able to control their pitches a bit better tonight, after pegging four A’s batters last night — including Chad Pinder in the head.
