The Oakland A’s and Kansas City Royals split the first two games of their series at the Coliseum, and now they’ll continue Saturday with the third game out of four. Last night was especially fun for the home team, as the green-and-gold notched a walk-off victory.
Now they’ll move from night games to the afternoon sun, and James Kaprielian takes the mound to open the day. This will be the right-hander’s sixth MLB start — he was good three times, then got roughed up, then rebounded last time out with five solid innings at Coors Field. Click here to read more about his encouraging results early in his rookie year.
The Royals counter with an even less experienced pitcher, as Top 100 prospect Jackson Kowar makes only his second career MLB start. The right-hander was a late-1st-round comp draft pick in 2018 (No. 33 overall), but got roughed up in his debut by the Angels, who scored four runs and knocked him out in the 1st inning.
My dog’s name is also Jackson (aka Sonny Greyhound), and today is his 15th birthday. That’s not a typo, he’s a very old dog. Happy birthday Jackson (the dog)!
