The Oakland A’s had a couple rough days to wrap up their series against the Toronto Blue Jays this week, and now they’ll get a fresh start against the Tampa Bay Rays. Oakland and Tampa Bay will play three games at the Coliseum beginning Friday.
On the mound for the A’s is Sean Manaea, and the Rays counter with Rich Hill. This pair of lefties faced off last week at Tropicana Field, with Manaea (5 ip, 1 run) coming out ahead over Hill (6 ip, 2 runs). The runs off Hill were courtesy of a two-run homer by Sean Murphy, who’s batting cleanup tonight.
Since then Manaea made a start on Sunday against the Orioles and allowed four runs in five innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.
Make sure to check out today’s latest injury updates, regarding super-sub Chad Pinder and reliever Burch Smith, who are both in the 10-day IL.
