The Oakland A’s are 0-6. If they lose again today, they’ll set a franchise record for worst start ever to a season, in their 121st year of existence.
Can Jesús Luzardo save the A’s? The lefty got knocked around in his 2021 debut against the Houston Astros, but he did strike out eight batters along the way with his nasty stuff on full display. If anyone in the rotation can be the stopper Oakland needs today, you’d have to bet on the budding young potential superstar who’s looking to build on a promising rookie year last summer.
Both lineups are missing star power. The Los Angeles Dodgers are without RF Mookie Betts due to back stiffness, as well as CF Cody Bellinger after his collision with A’s reliever Reymin Guduan on Monday (Guduan already went on the injured list). Oakland still doesn’t have 1B Matt Olson, for the second straight day, due to a knee contusion. Olson might return tomorrow, reports insider Martin Gallegos.
