Game Thread #19: A's vs. Twins

Ride the wave!

The Oakland A’s are on an 11-game winning streak! They’ll look to continue to ride the wave on Wednesday, with the chance for a home sweep over the Minnesota Twins at the Coliseum.

On the mound for the green and gold is Frankie Montas. The right-hander makes his fourth start of the year, coming off two straight gems in which he went six innings both times and allowed just one run total.

Meanwhile, Oakland’s lineup will need to contend with Kenta Maeda, who finished runner-up for AL Cy Young last year. The righty posted a 2.70 ERA with nearly 11 strikeouts per nine innings and 8 Ks per walk in the abbreviated 2020 campaign, and so far this season he’s backed up it with strong numbers through three starts. However, he’s only finished five innings once in three tries.

If the clubs can finish this game at least seven minutes shy of three hours, then they will have completed three MLB games in the span of 24 hours. Yesterday’s doubleheader began at 3:30 p.m.
