The Oakland A’s finally beat the Houston Astros, in their sixth try! Click here to read all about it in our game recap. Now the green-and-gold will aim for their first series win of the year, as they begin to dig out from a wretched start to the season.
On the mound is Frankie Montas. The right-hander got blasted by the Los Angeles Dodgers last week and was pulled in the 3rd inning, allowing seven runs in the end. Over the last three years he has a 3.55 ERA against the Astros in seven starts, including an outing last summer of seven shutout frames.
The lineup finally broke out last night for a season-high six runs, including three homers, and it helps that Ramon Laureano, Matt Olson, and Sean Murphy are all back from early minor injuries. Matt Chapman talked before the game about adjustments he’s making after his own slow start, per Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News.
