The Oakland A’s have two games left in the 2021 Cactus League, and they’re both against the San Francisco Giants in the annual preseason Bay Bridge Series. Normally these games are held in the Bay Area in the teams’ regular season home parks, but they’re staying down in Arizona this year.
For the A’s the focus is pitcher Daulton Jefferies, who is making his final spring audition as he competes for the fifth starter spot in place of the injured Mike Fiers. Athletics Nation sees Jefferies as the front-runner of the three candidates, but it’s not over yet as lefties A.J. Puk and Cole Irvin both tossed brilliant shutout ball in their most recent outings.
In five games this spring, the righty Jefferies has struck out 20 batters in 13 innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and three walks. He’ll be received by Aramis Garcia, who will officially be the second catcher on Oakland’s Opening Day roster next week.
First pitch is (was) 1:05 p.m. PT. You can listen to the radio broadcast for free online at A’s Cast.
