Spring Game Thread #21: A’s vs. D’Backs

Luzardo Day!

MLB: ALDS-Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland A’s got Sunday off from Cactus League game action, but they’re right back in it on Monday. Including today, there are eight spring training games left.

The A’s turn to Jesús Luzardo for the start on the mound. The lefty has been brilliant once this spring and gotten roughed up once, so he’ll look to get back on track. We’ll all be anxiously awaiting his next Turkey Sub slow curveball.

The Arizona Diamondbacks counter with a familiar face in Seth Frankoff. The right-hander was a 27th-round draft pick by the A’s in 2010 and spent six seasons in Oakland’s farm system, before getting a brief MLB debut with the Cubs in 2017, then going to Korea for two years to play in the KBO, and finally returning the the majors with the Mariners last summer for a couple innings. He’s a non-roster invitee in Arizona’s camp.

No Ramon Laureano or Stephen Piscotty yet, but hopefully tomorrow, reports Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News.

First pitch is 1:05 p.m. PT. You can listen to the radio broadcast for free online at A’s Cast.
