The Oakland A’s are set for their first road game of the Cactus League spring training season, as they travel to Phoenix to face the Milwaukee Brewers. The A’s are 1-1 so far through their first two contests.

On Tuesday we’ll get another look at a notable right-handed pitching prospect, as sleeper righty Parker Dunshee starts for the A’s. On Sunday, Daulton Jefferies went one inning in his start, and yesterday Grant Holmes worked two, so perhaps we could see multiple frames from Dunshee. He’s a non-roster invitee and not part of the conversation for the 2021 Opening Day squad, but he should settle in as a promising depth arm in Triple-A as he continues his quest to reach the majors.

On the mound for the Brewers is Josh Lindblom, who pitched for Oakland in 2014 before spending several years playing in Korea. He returned to the majors last summer and posted impressive strikeout and walk rates despite a shaky ERA. Milwaukee also has former A’s prospects Billy McKinney, Jacob Nottingham, and Bobby Wahl on their 40-man roster, and Daniel Robertson in today’s starting lineup.

First pitch is 12:10 p.m. PT. Remember this will only be a seven-inning game.

A’s lineup (away)

  1. 2B Tony Kemp (L)
  2. CF Ramon Laureano (R)
  3. RF Seth Brown (L)
  4. LF Mark Canha (R)
  5. DH Austin Allen (L)
  6. 3B Vimael Machin (L)
  7. C Carlos Perez (R)
  8. 1B Frank Schwindel (R)

  • RHP Parker Dunshee

Hittin’ Machin starts for the second straight day, defensive whiz Nick Allen makes his first start after coming off the bench twice, and NRI first baseman Schwindel gets a start after two hits yesterday. Hoping for better at-bats from Austin Allen today after a tough opener on Sunday. Keep an eye on Brown, who is battling for an Opening Day roster spot.
