Matt Chapman Trade Market

Unfortunately, expensive A's Vets with 1 year left typically leave the A's via trades or as free agents. So it is that Matt Chapman with 2 remaining years may be leaving soon via trade. Trades are a viable way to recoup some playing talent before a veteran leaves. Boras Corp clients are virtually unsign-able by low revenue A's adding urgency to Matt's status..

The teams with serious interest will be those in contention for their divisions and open for an upgrade at 3B. They will also have trading pieces with A's appeal. It also makes sense that the the team that adds Chapman has sufficient revenues to offer him a satisfactory multi year contract extension.

Regarding Trade Partners seeking an upgrade at 3B

- Pending offers to leaving players and other free agents will commonly include "drop dead dates" to end unsuccessful offers.
- Some teams may be leery of possible CBA changes/rulings affect on the 2022 season.
- Some teams will replace leaving vets with In-house prospects pushing any veteran upgrades/acquisitions to mid-season.
- A's may kick the can down the street to mid-season or even off season if they don't get a "right fit".

There is always the unexpected and A's may be able to extend Chapman's contract by moving other expensive veterans such as another Boras Corp client: Sean Manaea.
Or they may receive a blow out offer for both Manaea & Chapman and move on to other matters such as using those savings towards contract extensions for Bassett? Olson? Montas? …How amazing is that?

APOI: Pre-Arbitration Players of Interest. Quality Position Players with some MLB experience preferred. In this case 3B & SS are extremely beneficial and as such are presented in bold face below. Player add-ons for CF, SP, RP, CL to complete trades can add considerable value. Included are a few MLB tested Arbitration Players as well.
As a guideline Multi Year Salaries are shown here:

POI: Prospects of Interest. ETA of 2022 or 2023. Teens were purposely omitted as not being near to joining a MLB roster. That said, they do make intriguing add-ons.
