We’ve reached the finale of the 2020 season series between the Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers! This will be the last time these two clubs face off this year, though that’s not necessarily a good thing for the green and gold — Oakland has won seven of the nine matchups so far, including two of the first three in this final weekend series in Arlington.

The last battle will be a tough one for the A’s, as they have to face Lance Lynn one more time. The ace starter is having another excellent season, and in two games against Oakland he’s thrown quality starts both times for a total of 13⅓ innings, three runs, and 15 strikeouts, though the A’s did manage to win one of those contests. He’s allowed homers to Matt Chapman and Stephen Piscotty, though Chapman is out of the lineup and done for the year.

The A’s counter with Frankie Montas. The right-hander struggled for a few starts after experiencing back tightness, but looked better in his most recent outing, throwing five solid frames against the Houston Astros. His overall season numbers are ugly with a 5.73 ERA, but they’re skewed in a small sample and his ability is much higher than that mark suggests.

Oakland got some more tough injury news on Sunday, as super-sub Chad Pinder was placed on the injured list with a pulled hammy just two weeks before the playoffs begin. Veteran depth option Nate Orf was called up for now to replace him.

First pitch is 11:35 a.m., with the following options to watch or listen:

  • TV: NBC Sports California
  • Radio: 960 AM
  • Online video stream: fuboTV
  • Online audio stream: iHeartRadio

A’s lineup (away)

  1. 3B Tommy La Stella (L)
  2. SS Marcus Semien (R)
  3. RF Stephen Piscotty (R)
  4. 1B Matt Olson (L)
  5. LF Robbie Grossman (S)
  6. DH Mark Canha (R)
  7. CF Ramon Laureano (R)
  8. C Jonah Heim (S)
  9. 2B Tony Kemp (L)
  • Frankie Montas, RHP

La Stella is back in the leadoff spot, and playing third base. No Nate Orf sighting yet, which makes sense against a righty starter.

Rangers lineup (home)

  1. CF Leody Taveras (S)
  2. 3B Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R)
  3. LF Nick Solak (R)
  4. 2B Rougned Odor (L)
  5. DH Derek Dietrich (L)
  6. SS Anderson Tejeda (S)
  7. 1B Ronald Guzman (L)
  8. RF Eli White (R)
  9. C Jeff Mathis (R)
  • Lance Lynn, RHP

No Gallo today, with Odor hitting cleanup (he’s batting .151).

Let’s Go Oakland!
