My bad, the tweet from A’s PR clearly says 6:45 p.m. PT for first pitch so I didn’t realize the game had begun already.

The Oakland A’s lost the first game of this doubleheader 5-2, and all of the Rangers’ runs came in the 1st inning against Daulton Jefferies in his MLB debut. Now the green and gold look to salvage a split.

They’ll do so behind Chris Bassitt, who put up a brilliant performance his last time out against the Houston Astros. He tossed seven scoreless innings and didn’t walk anybody, in a bounce-back of sorts after a few shaky games. He hasn’t faced the Rangers yet this year.

Meanwhile, Texas turns to Kolby Allard. The lefty was a Top 100 prospect for the Braves and was acquired from Atlanta last summer, but has struggled this year in Arlington to the tune of a 7.22 ERA. His 4.83 FIP is closer to reasonable, but still mediocre at best. He faced the A’s once this year and pitched into the 6th inning, allowing just two runs.

Oakland’s lineup gets back one of its injured players in this game, as Stephen Piscotty returns from a sore wrist that required a cortisone shot. Marcus Semien is also playing after also starting in the first game, which marks progress after he only played one half of the team’s last twin-bill on Tuesday.

First pitch was a little bit ago, with the following options to watch or listen:

  • TV: NBC Sports California
  • Radio: 960 AM
  • Online video stream: fuboTV
  • Online audio stream: iHeartRadio

A’s lineup (away)

  1. SS Marcus Semien (R)
  2. 2B Tommy La Stella (L)
  3. RF Stephen Piscotty (R)
  4. LF Mark Canha (R)
  5. 1B Matt Olson (L)
  6. DH Khris Davis (R)
  7. CF Ramon Laureano (R)
  8. C Sean Murphy (R)
  9. 3B Vimael Machin (L)
  • Chris Bassitt, RHP

Piscotty jumps back into the third spot, while Semien moves back up to leadoff after a couple turns at second. Davis gets another crack as well after showing signs of life lately.

Rangers lineup (home)

  1. CF Leody Taveras (S)
  2. SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R)
  3. 2B Nick Solak (R)
  4. RF Joey Gallo (L)

  6. C Sam Huff (R)
  7. 1B Ronald Guzman (L)
  8. 3B Sherten Apostel (R)
  9. LF Eli White (R)
  • Kolby Allard, LHP

Odor and Andrus are out, Dietrich and Apostel are in.

Let’s Go Oakland!
