With one pitch, Liam Hendriks got his first strikeout of the late afternoon. Seventeen pitches later, Hendriks got his second strikeout and ended the frame. It was the same ol’ Hendriks, in a suddenly unfamiliar setting.
The 8th inning was quiet, the A’s going down 1-2-3 and the Tigers managing a double versus Jake Diekman but nothing else.
In the final inning, Chad Pinder, batting third, smacked an opposite field two run home run. Technically, it was his third consecutive game with a home run.

Pinder’s home run put the A’s up 7-3, and the Tigers wouldn’t get the chance to sniff at a comeback.
The A’s finally put away a game they started more than three months ago. Next game is about to begin!
