Game Thread #158: A’s at Angels

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Los Angeles Angels Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The AL Wild Card race is tightening, and the only way the A’s can ensure they stay in front of it tonight is by defeating the Angels in Anaheim. Frankie Montas (9-2, 2.70 ERA) is back in action with his first start for the A’s since incurring an 80 game PED suspension on June 20. The Angels are sending lefty Andrew Heaney (4-6, 5.10 ERA) to the mound; he’s had a rough go this September, posting a 9.31 ERA so far in four starts. Hopefully he’ll give the A’s ample opportunity to get their offense going again after scoring just five total runs in their last two games, both of which were losses. Let’s go, Oakland!
