It is the final home game of the regular season, and the team aims to put an exclamation point on what has been a spectacular season in front of the home crowd. Coming into today’s matinee, the A’s are 52-28 at home, third best in the American League, which is good news considering the team, in all likelihood, will be hosting the Wild Card game come October.
Today’s starting pitchers will be Tanner Roark and Lance Lynn. Both righties have had long, successful seasons this year, and both offenses will have a challenge. However, because the ball flies in the afternoon in Oakland, both pitchers will also have to beware of the long ball.
There are a lot of exciting games to keep an eye on today as the season’s final week begins. As of this writing, the Rays are losing to the Red Sox in the 7th inning after several unbelievable comeback wins and the Twins are in a slugfest against the Royals. The Indians and Phillies are set to begin at 3:30. The A’s and Rangers are set to begin at 1:07. Lineups are posted below.
A’s lineup vs Rangers: Semien SS, Chapman 3B, Olson 1B, Canha CF, Brown LF, Davis DH, Profar 2B, Murphy C, Grossman RF; Roark P.
