Game Thread #149: A’s at Rangers

With possession of a Wild Card spot and home field advantage, the A’s are looking to further secure their trip to a postseason showdown in Oakland.

Assumed starter Mike Fiers is hoping to bounce back after snapping his 12-game winning streak in Houston with a nine-run outing that only lasted one inning. The Rangers ballpark doesn’t exactly play well to his flyball tendencies, but if he can regain command of his soft arsenal, the A’s should have a strong chance to win and keep or even extend their Wild Card lead.

With lefty Mike Minor on the mound today, the A’s moved Laureano up to the two-spot in the lineup. Pinder and Neuse are also starting today, with the A’s hoping for an offensive breakout from either or, ideally, both.
