Game Thread #115: Athletics at Cubs

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Chicago Cubs Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

After having their rally shut down for a disappointing loss last night, the A’s are back at Wrigley today to try and balance out this interleague series. There was good promise yesterday as Marcus Semien hit two homers, and Nick Martini hit a pinch hit blast to bring the A’s close.

Tonight the green and gold face off against former Athletic Jon Lester, who has been strong at home through the season, but had some rough spots on the road. Lester’s last start was rougher as he allowed 5 earned runs over 5 innings pitched. Hopefully the A’s will be able to take advantage of Lester before he settles in at home.

Pitching for the Athletics today is Brett Anderson, Brett was alright in his last start against the Brewers pitching through 7 innings, and holding Milwaukee to 3 runs.

Lineups:

Lineup notes:

  • Another NL game, another day without Khris Davis in the lineup. Expect some late game pinch hitting, joining him on the bench are Profar, Martini, and Herrmann.
  • Chad Pinder gets the start at 2B today, trading off with Profar. Pinder pinch hit yesterday and singled.

Go A’s!
