Game Thread #114: Athletics at Cubs

The Oakland Athletics open this inter league series against the Cubs at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. Chris Bassitt takes the hill against righty Kyle Hendricks. Both pitchers have had strong outings since the All Star Break. Since that break, Bassitt is 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA (3.05 on the season) and opponents are struggling to hit off of him. Meanwhile, Kyle Hendricks is 8-8 on the season with a 3.07 ERA; in July he notched 32 strikeouts in 32 innings. Add to this his home record of 4-2 with a 1.89 ERA and the Oakland bats will need to be ready.
