Davis “Krushes” his former team, hoping for a sequel tonight
Khris Davis’ eighth inning homerun last night not only gave the A’s a much needed go ahead run, it also lifted the mounting pressure off of Davis’ six week homerless drought. If Davis’ bat heats up in the final two months of the regular season, the A’s offense will be able to handle the loss of Ramon Laureano’s bat (placed on the 10 day IL today) and take on the Astros new juggarnaut pitching staff with force.

Roark, You are Oakland Bound (but first enjoy some Arby’s)
Tanner Roark was acquired today from the Cincinnati Reds for minor league outfielder and former A’s 2018 second round draft pick, Jameson Hannah. The 6’2 right-hander will slide right into the A’s starting rotation although he pitched last night so he will most likely not debut for the A’s until this weekend at the earliest. You can learn more about what type of pitcher Roark is here and here. The most interesting thing about this trade is this...
Tanner Roark learned of his trade in an @arbys parking lot. He wanted a beef and cheddar (and curly fries). He was driving to Atlanta, where he lives in the off-season. @JonHeyman approves. He will not be driving to Oakland

Athletics Nation Eats
To help make Tanner feel at home and comfortable with the Green and Gold, we need a loyal Athletics Nation reader to pick up some beef and chedder’s at the nearest Arby’s location to the Coliseum (601 S Bernardo Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94087) and bring them to Roark this weekend!
Brett “Bubble Tape” Anderson
Starting on the mound for the A’s tonight is lefty, Brett Anderson. Anderson (9-6, 4.05 ERA) cruised through the Texas line-up last Thursday in his most recent start before having the wheels come off in the fifth inning allowing five runs in the frame. Anderson has struggled this year and throughout his career with nagging neck, back and blister/nail issues. When he is feeling good, he is a dominant pitcher for the A’s. A’s fans are hoping tonight is a good night health wise for Anderson and he can keep the Brewers (ranked fourth overall in MLB in homeruns with 177) in the park and off the scoreboard.
Interleague Matchup
A’s are 5-3 so far in interleague play coming into tonight’s matchup with key series against the Cubs and Giants coming up on the schedule in August.

In honor of the A’s playing Milwaukee tonight and the recent passing of actress Penny Marshall, I leave us tonight with the lyrics from the theme song from the Milwaukee based sitcom, “Laverne and Shirley”
“On your mark, get set and go now Got a dream and we just know now
We’re gonna make our dream come true And we’ll do it our way - yes our way
Make all our dreams come true And do it our way - yes our way
Make all our dreams come true For me and you!”
Let’s Go Oak-Land!!!!!!!
