Daniel Mengden battled his control for a little more than three innings pitched wherein he allowed four runs to score. After not allowing a single walk to his previous 80 batters faced, Mengden walked five Twins on the day, and 9 of 16 lefties he opposed reached base, including a home run to Max Kepler and three doubles. He has been replaced by Wei-Chung Wang, who got out of Mengden’s jam in the previous inning.
The A’s offense had been doing nothing all day, until a walk to Jurickson Profar seemingly opened up the floodgates. A’s are rallying right now!
