Game Thread #93: A’s vs. White Sox

Is there anything, anywhere better than hot summer nights and a winning baseball team?

MLB: Minnesota Twins at Oakland Athletics D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports

Hey, all, and a very happy Friday to you! After what seemed like an indeterminable amount of time away, baseball is BACK! The A’s are even back home! They take on the White Sox tonight, as Mike Fiers takes on Ivan Nova as the A’s are now in full playoff swing. Is there anything better than hot summer nights and winning A’s baseball? Let’s do this.

The Rangers, who are nipping on the heels of the A’s; just a game behind, did us a solid last night by beating the Astros, so the gap in the West has closed to 7.0, not quite reachable in a single series, but definitely not out of range by any means with just under half of the season to go. The A’s are still chasing red-hot Cleveland and Tampa Bay, with Boston and Texas right behind them; the very likely competition for the Wild Card playoff slots.
