Sundays have not gone well for the A’s this year. Ideally, today will change things up.
It’s the final game of a four game set against the Angels. The A’s have taken two of the first three games of the series, and seek to take the series for good after today’s action. Stepping onto the mound for Oakland today is Chris Bassitt, While Bassitt’s last outing was short, it wasn’t entirely his fault, as the A’s typically dependable defense let him down, and he will be seeking redemption in this appearance. He will be opposed by Andrew Heaney, a pitcher who has historically had great stuff, but injuries and command issues have held him back.
With Stephen Piscotty injured for an indefinite amount of time, Franklin Barreto has been called up in his place. Barreto has been on fire in Las Vegas of late, and he has the chance to do some damage, as the starting second baseman for the A’s today.
First pitch is at 1:07. Lineups are posted below.
