Game Thread #85: A’s at Angels

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The third of a four game series in Anaheim—currently tied at a game apiece—is about to begin! Tonight’s contest will begin as a tale of two seven-game-winner lefties: Brett Anderson (7-5, 4.26 ERA) is starting for the 44-39 A’s, while Tyler Skaggs (7-6, 4.30 ERA) will take the bump for the Halos, who at 42-41 are just two games behind the A’s in the AL West. Anderson had a very tough start against Tampa Bay last Sunday, lasting just three innings and allowing seven runs. He’ll vie tonight for a result more like his last start against the Angels on March 30 in which he came away with a quality start and the win. Mark Canha is standing in for Khrush at DH again, this time in the cleanup spot, and Canha’s usual benchmate Chad Pinder, starting at left field tonight, will follow in the fifth spot. Let’s go, Oakland!
