Game Thread #34: A’s at Pirates

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend after a DISASTER of a baseball week. I’m not kidding. The A’s—losers of six in a row on this road trip—head into Pittsburgh to try to regroup. When I joined you last Friday, we were so happy! The A’s were off a sweep of the Rangers, they were opening in Toronto, and things took a weird left turn. They have lost every game since. Yes, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and they probably would have lost yesterday had they played. You know things are bad when you are grateful for an off-day because at least your team can’t lose.

Here’s hoping that the day off yesterday and the delayed start today can help. Brett Anderson will take the mound for the A’s facing off against Joe Musgrove. Since we’re in an NL Park (best of the lot, if you ask me), the pitchers will bat.

If you tuned in to see the debut of Skye Bolt, you’ll just have to wait. It’s raining and he’s not in the lineup. I’m sorry; that seems harsh, but it’s been a week. Here’s to sunny skies soon.
