If you take a look at the MLB standings there’s an outlier in the Last 10 Games column. The Oakland Athletics have won 10(ish) games in a row and want to keep the double-digit streak running. The entire squad is coalescing, dingers are being hit from all sections of the lineup even though Khris Davis is absent on the IL, the bullpen has been solid keeping opposing runs from scoring late in games, and the A’s staters have ranged from giving out solid starts to being flat out dominant.
The top of the A’s starters over this span has without a doubt been Frankie Montas. After 10 starts, Montas sits with 6 wins and 2 losses and an elite 2.40 ERA. Montas also currently leads the American League when looking at FIP, at 2.75. Frankie has been unreal so far this season, and hopefully his continued dominance will bring the A’s to their 11th win in a row.
All Star Game voting opened today, so we can all do our part to send Josh Phegley to Cleveland.
- Stephen Piscotty is back in right field after some stomach issues led to a late scratch and a game in the DH slot in the last 2 games.
- Matt Chapman has hit a home run in each of the last 3 games and now holds the A’s HR lead at 14.
- The Angels are throwing out an opener with Cam Bedrosian making his second appearance of the series before Nick Tropeano makes his first appearance of 2019.
- Laureano is sitting on a 10 game hitting streak, keep an eye out for some more extra base hits by the Laser! Piscotty is also sitting at a 23 game on-base streak!
Outside of the game, Fernando Rodney has been released, and Nick Martini has been welcomed back to AAA Las Vegas. A’s Cast is up and running with the new program from the field A’s Cast Live.
Montas leads the Athletics onto what could be their 11th straight win, with the way the team has been going it feels like there’s no stopping the Swinging A’s
