The A’s (5-3) face off against the defending champions Boston Red Sox (1-5) tonight in Game three of the four game series tonight from Oakland.
Pop Quiz: Who has scored more runs in Oakland this week?
Q: The North Oakland Little League Yard Goats or the Boston Red Sox?
A: The North Oakland Triple AAA Yard Goats by a landslide. The Yard Goats scored 9 runs this week in defeating the Lugnuts on Sunday at Bushrod Park (former playground of Oakland legends, Rickey Henderson, Frank Robinson and Billy Martin). The BoSox have put up nothing but goose eggs in their 18 innings of play at the Coliseum this week. Go N.O.L.L Yard Goats!
The Robe King Looks to Keep the A’s Looking Comfortable
A’s Right-hander, Marco Estrada, heads to the mound tonight hoping to keep the momentum going for the best starting pitching staff in baseball thru the first week of the 2019 season. A’s pitchers have already posted three shutouts in eight games and the staff hasn’t allowed a run in the first inning. Estrada’s journey to the Major Leagues is documented so well here.
Opposing Estrada will be Boston right-hander, Nathan Eovoldi. Eovoldi was knocked around for three home runs and six runs total in his 2019 debut against Seattle. He features a power four seam fastball (96+ mph) and has good memories of pitching at the Coliseum. Last season (May 30th), he made his season debut in Oakland pitching for the Rays, his first game back on a Major League mound after missing the entire 2017 season due to his second Tommy John surgery.
