Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. A’s fans, click HERE to learn more and join FanPulse.
A’s fans were asked last week if they have confidence in the direction of the team, and the result was a resounding yes! The final tally was 95% approval.
What exactly does that mean, though? After all, lots of fans like their teams. But A’s fans still rank toward the top in this regard, as only five other fanbases showed stronger approval of their clubs.
- Houston, 100%
- Milwaukee, 100%
- Philadelphia, 100%
- San Diego, 100%
- Tampa Bay, 97%
- Oakland, 95%
- Minnesota, 95%
There were some more in the lower-90s, but only that small handful finished higher than Oakland. And there are good reasons, too — the Astros are championship favorites, the Brewers may be the best they’ve ever been in franchise history, and the Phillies and Padres just made superstar splashes in free agency and are off to nice starts this season. Meanwhile, the Rays are the A’s kindred spirits in Moneyballdom and are currently in first place in a tough division.
Meanwhile, manager Bob Melvin still has the full support of A’s fans. After dipping down into the mid/low 90s in the last couple polls, he returned to 100% approval this time around. Oakland fans love their skipper, and only Houston’s A.J. Hinch and Milwaukee’s Craig Counsell enjoyed the same unanimous love this week.

On the other end of the spectrum, the fans with the least confidence in their teams were the Pirates (36%), Nationals (47%), Indians (50%), and Giants (55%). Nobody trusts their manager less than Yankees fans, who voted only 34% in favor of Aaron Boone.
Next week’s A’s survey will be adding a new Oakland-specific question, about fans’ confidence in the club’s starting rotation, so stay tuned to find out the results of that.
Are there any questions you would like to see on this weekly survey? If so, then suggest them in the comments! We have the ability to add new questions, whether Yes/No like this one or a multiple-choice between several options.
Finally, there was a national question this week that was posed to fans of all teams, and here are the results of that.
