Game Thread #20: Athletics vs Astros

The A’s had their first proper off-day of the non-Japan season yesterday. The day off came after playing 17 games in 18 days, and would have been a straight 18 if not for a rainout in Arlington. After a day’s rest, the Athletics start a home stand with a 2 game set against the Astros.

Hopefully the day off hasn’t diminished the offence as the A’s have had double digit hits in each of the last 7 games played. Khris Davis hit his 10th dinger in Texas, Marcus Semien has been batting at an elite level so far this season, and Josh Phegley has been riding a hot streak on a campaign to to make himself the Athletics every day catcher.

Marco Estrada looks to bounce back after a poor start in Baltimore, giving up 6 earned runs in 4 innings pitched. Estrada’s normal turn in the order was rained out, and rather than tip his home/road splits to be even more uneven, the rotation was shuffled so that Marco throws after Brett Anderson.

As the A’s had yesterday off they will also be celebrating Jackie Robinson Day tonight, with commemorative patches on hats and jerseys, as well as all jerseys displaying the number 42 with no-name-on-back.

Lineups:

The Astros roll into Oakland on a 9 game winning streak with some blazing hot bats. Hopefully the Green and Gold can slow them down and take the win.

Let’s go A’s!
