I'm excited...this is what spring training is all about.
I’ll take even odds that’s Mr. Melvin told the young man to walk the first batter to put himself in a pressure situation. Four straight balls & then a strike-em-out-throw-em-out double play! That wasn’t enough and Jesus went on the strike out the side on 4 batters in the Second and two more before coming out in the Third.
Luzardo ups his K:BB ratio to 10:3 for the spring. He did hit Calhoun in the Third & didn’t finish the inning.
Settle down now, it was a pitcher friendly zone as the legend Ray Fosse put it on the radio and through the Sixth the game was fairly uneventful offensively with the home team hitters making Texas pitchers look just as good. Triumph the Dog knows what Hundley’s at bat in the bottom of the fifth is good for.

Our half of the Sixth was a nice preview of the season with Grossman leading off with a double & scoring on Chapman’s single. Chapman moved to 2nd on the play & he became Fowler, who scored when Profrar singled in him & Piscotty. Bam! 3 runs in the bottom of the frame.
Mathis doubled in Hernandez in the seventh to get Texas on the board, which broke up Megden’s fine day out. Daniel wound up with a Cactus-worthy line of 4 IP 1 H 1 ER 3 BB 2K and the W. He cruised through his first two innings & rebounded well after a rough inning.
Fowler homered in the Eighth and Wei-Chung Wang threw 3 pitches in the Ninth to pick up the save.
Just remember that Spring Training is the equivalent of self-pleasure and the only thing lasting it can result in is a mess. Knock on wood: no injuries, no fights, lots of free swinging, and the team I like won.
