Game Thread #113: Athletics vs Tigers

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Oakland Athletics Kiel Maddox-USA TODAY Sports

After back-to-back low scoring nail biters, it would be nice if the A’s could ease their way into a sweep and as they continue their quest for the postseason. Cold bats haven’t been able to slow down the red hot A’s, as Brett Anderson and Edwin Jackson resurrected their deteriorating seasons and allowed just one run in over thirteen innings combined the last two days. Today, Trevor Cahill has a chance to fully get himself back on track as he takes the bump against Detroit’s Francisco Liriano.

The A’s, Mariners, and Astros will all be playing at the same time this afternoon, so undoubtedly attention will be split between the action on the field and on the scoreboard updates. Best case scenario, the A’s can move within 2.5 games of the first wild card spot, within four games of the division, and extend their lead over the Mariners to 3.5 games.

First pitch is at 1:05. Lineups are below.
