Game Thread #131: Athletics at Twins (2)

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Minnesota Twins Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Despite neither starting pitcher looking particularly sharp, the game remained close until the 5th inning, when Jed Lowrie broke a 1-1 tie with a two run near-triple in the right-center field gap.

Each team traded solo home runs in the sixth inning, Stephen Piscotty hit his 18th home run of the season, and the Twins’ Tyler Austin hit his second solo home run of the game.

With the score 4-2 entering the top of the seventh inning, Matt Chapman, Jed Lowrie, and Khris Davis are due up, primed to do more damage while the remainder of the bullpen silences any hopes of a Minnesota comeback.
