Game Thread #129: A’s at Twins

MLB: Houston Astros at Oakland Athletics Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday and welcome to Friday night baseball in late August, in a pennant race that we are enjoying to the fullest. No pressure, Friday night, but the A’s have lost two in a row, a very uncommon occurrence this summer, and they very badly need a win tonight.

They will send Sean Manaea to the mound tonight, looking to bounce back after his rough outing on Sunday, where he took the loss to the Astros. We need him to be good tonight; the A’s have to keep pace with the Astros, who have opened a 1.5 lead in the West. We are coming off the magic of last Friday night, where an overturned replay call tied the game and an extra-innings home run won it.

The A’s offense (which has struggled this week), will be facing off against Jake Odorizzi.
