Last night the A’s came back from a horrific, come from behind, extra innings loss to defeat the reigning World Champion Houston Astros 8-3. This means that, worst case scenario the A’s will split the series with the Astros, or they could take the series three games to one with a win today.

Trevor Cahill has been activated from the DL to start today’s game for Oakland after being sidelined for a month with a right Achilles strain. Cahill has held his opponents to three runs or less in seven of his eight starts this season. Charlie Morton will take the mound for the Astros. Morton has 45 strikeouts in his last five starts that spanned just 31.1 innings pitched. Hopefully the A’s can change that today.

Stephen Piscotty is back in the A’s lineup today after a scare last night. He was taken out of the game in the fifth inning after being hit by a pitch from Justin Verlander. Thankfully, his injury was labeled a contusion and his x-rays were negative. Dustin Fowler will take a day off today, Mark Canha will take over for him in center field while Nick Martini will start the game in left. Fowler is one for 16 in the series with seven strikeouts. Also, Khris Davis looks to keep his 13-game hit streak going and help keep the club winning.
