Now that the NBA season is over and done with (yay Warriors), it’s time for baseball to take lone possession of the spotlight.
With that said, the A’s are putting Chris Bassitt in that spotlight for the first time in the Majors since April 28th, 2016, as Trevor Cahill will miss a start with a minor achilles injury.
After that start two years ago, Bassitt underwent Tommy John surgery, returned to the mound in 2017, then finished season in Nashville. Bassitt is 2-3 with a 6.10 ERA in 10 outings (seven starts) for the Sounds.
Danny Duffy, in the midst of a down year, will start for the Royals. He’s 2-6 on the season with a 5.81 ERA, and is averaging over two home runs per game.
The A’s are looking for their third straight win.
First pitch is at 1:05!
