- 1888 - The Philadelphia Athletics play their first official Sunday home game at Gloucester, NJ — or so they think. The American Association league secretary will later rule the game illegally rescheduled and throw it out of the official records.
- 1967 - In the 8th inning against Jim Bunning of the Phillies, Hank Aaron drives a ball to deep center field and scores ahead of the relay. It will be the only inside-the-park home run among his 755.

talked w/ Jonathan Lucroy & Jed Lowrie about strike zone recently. Jed sure that smaller zone means more swinging, more BIP. Lucroy: “As hitter, you’re always trying to keyhole the pitcher, make them pitch to you. If the zone was more of a keyhole, the hitter would swing more." https://t.co/qZmadtJLoL
