It’s been a pleasure. I have been honored to serve as your Friday night recapper for this interesting season, and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to next year. The year of the kids, indeed.
I’ve won nearly every game I’ve recapped in the last month, but the A’s finally fell tonight; losing to the Rangers 5-3.
Raul Alcantara did not make five innings; he left in the fifth after five hits and four runs. He allowed a two-run single in the first and a two-run home run in the fifth, and was replaced by Sam Moll (auto-runs!) who allowed a RBI single to cap off the scoring for the Rangers at five.
Meanwhile, Perez pitched six plus innings, putting up zero after zero until the seventh. Khris Davis walked, Ryon Healy singled, and Renato Nunez smacked a home run—his first MLB career HR—to close the gap to 5-3, where the game would end.
