Game Thread #148: Athletics at Phillies

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Philadelphia Phillies Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The A’s look to secure a series victory early today following last night’s dominating performance from Daniel Mengden, and aim to do so with Kendall Graveman on the mound. Graveman has been more good than bad since returning from the Disabled List, where he spent most of this season, acting as a consistent mid-rotation arm for a rotation that is sorely missing any semblance of consistency. Opposing Graveman is Phillies’ starter Ben Lively, one of the few bright spots in a decimated Philadelphia rotation outside of Aaron Nola, and likely to be the toughest test for the A’s lineup over this weekend series. Graveman v Lively is, if anything, a perfect mashup of names in opposition of each other, and hopefully the actual pitching contest lives up to its name as well.

Matt Chapman returns to the lineup tonight to re-join with the other Matts, Olson and Joyce, and Ryon Healy is getting the night off. With Khris Davis on paternity leave, Olson gets his second consecutive night of being the cleanup hitter for the A’s. On his first night, he blasted a 483-foot home run that drove in the eventual winning run.

First pitch is at 4:10. Lineups are below.
