Neither of today’s starting pitchers has had a particularly good year. Both have ERAs in the 5’s, and Jharel Cotton in particular has failed to truly follow up on the promise shown in 2016. However, Cotton finally turned it around in his last start, lasting more than 6 innings while giving up only 2 runs against an extremely strong Astros lineup. Him righting the ship to end the season would be a great storyline to carry into 2018.
Today’s lineup is rookie-tastic, with Booooooooooooog Powell batting leadoff, Maxwell bringing up the rear, and some solid bats through the middle of the lineup.
