Prospect Watch:
ICYMI:
- Boog hits first MLB homerun as A’s lose in Baltimore...
- Our Boog gets to meet Baltimore’s Boog today at the elder Boog’s BBQ. They might even FaceTime the LLWS Boog...
- How did the A’s fare in free agency last winter?
- Jed Lowrie homered last night too. Why he might be sticking with Oakland...
- There’s nothing extraordinary about Aaron Judge’s slump...
- 13 MLB team’s teamed up in a Twitter rendition of Bonny Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart...
- Dusty Baker throwing caution, pitch counts to the wind...
- Sam Miller: Giancarlo says the ‘real’ homerun record is 61. Why it might actually be as low as 37...
- Paul Janish retired yesterday...
- Kinsler fined $10K; Umpires warned about protest...
- A very compelling story about baseball’s worst team...
Today in Baseball History:
- 1946 - Teams approve the change to a 168 game schedule. The decision will be rescinded in September.
- 1961 - Roger Maris becomes the first player to hit his 50th homerun in August.
- 1989 - Oakland defeats the Texas Rangers 2-0. The game is better known for Nolan Ryan’s fifth inning strikeout of Ricky Henderson, which marked Ryan’s 5,000th.
- 2007 - Ten years ago, the Orioles lost 30-3 (to the Rangers). Perhaps an anniversary repeat?
Best of Twitter:

- An update on Marcus...
Melvin says Semien irritated the scar tissue in his surgically repaired wrist. Should be a day or two.

Semien feels much better after treatment. Believes he will play tomorrow.

- It was a game of milestones...
A's fall 7-3 at Baltimore, they've lost nine of 13 and they're back at a season-high 17 games below .500. They also made their 100th error.
