Game Thread #106: A’s vs. Giants

We’re living in the P.S. era, but this is a good way to start it.

Alas, we’re living in the P.S. (post-Sonny) era.

However, the Giants are on our side of the Bay, and if you haven’t heard, they’re straight-up awful.

In fact, just today, with the Phillies’ win over the Braves, the Giants officially hold the worst record in the Majors at 40-66 (.377).

The tweet speaks for itself.

Paul Blackburn will take the mound for the Athletics. In his last outing, he went seven scoreless innings while only giving up two hits.

Matt Cain will start for the Giants, and he certainly has not been exempt from their downward spiral.

I thought last night’s game would be the last we saw of Alonso or Lowrie, but here they are. (Sorry Rosie, someone had to go).

Today's Lineups

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS OAKLAND A'S
Denard Span - CF Matt Joyce - RF
Joe Panik - 2B Marcus Semien - SS
Brandon Belt - 1B Jed Lowrie - 2B
Buster Posey - DH Khris Davis - LF
Brandon Crawford - SS Yonder Alonso - 1B
Jae-Gyun Hwang - 3B Ryon Healy - DH
Carlos Moncrief - RF Bruce Maxwell - C
Nick Hundley - C Matt Chapman - 3B
Gorkys Hernandez - LF Jaycob Brugman - CF

Feel whatever you feel about the trade, but the A’s are primed to pounce.

Klay Thompson will be throwing out the first pitch.
